Austin Fence and Deck

Simtek Fence Installation Austin

Simtek fencing gives you the look of a hand-laid stone wall or a natural wood fence, but it’s actually molded polyethylene that won’t rot, crack, warp, or require painting. It’s one of the most realistic synthetic fencing options on the market—and it happens to block noise better than almost any other residential fence material.

At Austin Fence & Deck Builders, we’ve been installing Simtek fences across Central Texas since the product gained popularity. We know how to set the posts properly in Austin’s clay soil, handle the panel connections correctly, and build a fence that looks like it belongs on your property—not like plastic pretending to be stone.

What Is Simtek Fencing?

Simtek is a brand of rotationally molded polyethylene fencing that replicates the look of natural materials—primarily stone and wood. The panels are:

  • Molded from real textures — Simtek creates molds from actual stone walls and wood fences, so the texture is authentic, not obviously fake
  • Solid polyethylene — Not hollow vinyl; the material is dense and substantial
  • UV-stabilized — Won’t fade, yellow, or become brittle in Texas sun
  • Impact-resistant — Handles bumps from lawn equipment, balls, and branches without cracking

The most popular styles mimic stacked stone, ashlar stone, and weathered wood grain. From 10 feet away, most people can’t tell it’s not the real thing.

Why Choose Simtek Over Real Stone or Wood?

  • Cost. A real stone wall costs $50–$100+ per linear foot. Simtek delivers a similar look at a fraction of the price—comparable to premium vinyl fencing or mid-range cedar privacy fencing.
  • Weight. Stone walls require substantial footings and often engineering. Simtek panels are lightweight and install on standard fence posts—no special foundation work needed.
  • Maintenance. Real wood needs to be stained every 2–4 years. Stone walls can crack and need repointing. Simtek needs nothing but occasional rinsing with a garden hose.
  • Noise reduction. This is Simtek’s hidden superpower. The solid, dense panels block significantly more sound than wood, vinyl, or metal fencing. If you’re near a busy road, noisy neighbors, or commercial property, Simtek creates a noticeably quieter backyard.
  • Durability. No rot, no insect damage, no warping, no fading. Simtek fences carry a limited lifetime warranty from the manufacturer.

Simtek Fence Styles

Stone Textures

EcoStone — Simtek’s flagship product. Realistic stacked stone appearance in several color options. The most popular choice for Austin properties seeking the Hill Country stone aesthetic.

Ashlar Stone — Cut stone pattern with a more formal, architectural look. Works well with traditional and Mediterranean-style homes.

Wood Textures

Sherwood — Molded from real weathered wood boards. Delivers the look of a rustic wood fence without the maintenance. Available in multiple color tones.

Colors

Simtek offers earth tones designed to complement Texas landscapes:

  • Brown tones (various shades)
  • Gray/charcoal
  • Tan/sandstone
  • Custom colors available on some product lines

We can show you samples and help you choose the style and color that fits your home and landscape.

Simtek Fence Heights

Standard Simtek panels come in:

  • 6 feet — Standard privacy height; most common for residential backyards
  • 8 feet — Enhanced privacy and noise reduction; may require permits

Posts extend above and below the panels, ensuring proper anchoring.

Where Simtek Fencing Works Best

  • Properties near busy roads. The noise reduction alone makes Simtek worth considering if traffic noise is an issue. It outperforms wood, vinyl, and chain link for sound blocking.
  • Yards where you want a stone look. Get the Hill Country aesthetic without building an actual stone wall. Especially effective for front yards, side yards facing streets, and accent sections.
  • Low-maintenance priorities. If you don’t want to stain, paint, or repair your fence for the next 20+ years, Simtek delivers.
  • HOA communities. Simtek’s refined appearance often passes HOA review where other synthetic materials might not. We can provide documentation for architectural review.
  • Pool surrounds. Simtek can work as pool fencing when built to code height with compliant gates. The solid panels provide full privacy around pool areas.

Want traditional wood or vinyl instead? We install all types of fences—cedar privacy fences, vinyl fencing, ornamental iron, and more. We’ll help you choose what fits your property and budget.

Our Simtek Installation Process

1

Site Visit and Estimate We assess your property, discuss style and color options, and measure the fence line. You’ll receive a detailed written estimate.

2

Post Layout Simtek panels require specific post spacing. We mark locations precisely to ensure panels fit correctly without cutting or forcing.

3

Post Installation Steel or aluminum posts are set in concrete at proper depth—minimum 24 inches in Austin’s clay soil, deeper for 8-foot fences. Post alignment is critical; Simtek panels don’t flex to accommodate crooked posts.

4

Panel Installation Panels slide into channels on the posts and lock into place. We check the level and alignment at each section.

5

Caps and Finishing Post caps are installed, and we inspect every connection point. The finished fence should look seamless—like a continuous wall, not a series of panels.

6

Final Walkthrough We review the completed fence with you and answer any questions about care (which is minimal—mostly just keeping it clean).
