It was built in 1936, the year before the state moved into a new area. The walls of the Texas Capitol are made from Burnet County limestone and red granite. The roof of the facility is constructed of 85,000 sq. ft of copper. 

The original floors of the capitol were built of glass, wood, and clay tile. However, the renovations of the capitol in 1936 changed it to terrazzo, a material made of Texas marble aggregate. 

Its interior walls are covered with 7 miles of wainscoting. The door frames of the facility were made from oak and pine. The building is an architectural masterpiece. It was completed way back in 1888. The doors are carved gorgeously and have etched floor tiles. 

The chandeliers and staircases of the Texas Capitol are adorned with glittering crystals. With its beautiful structure, you can take a selfie during your visit. It was also home to national monuments.

The atrium of the Texas Capitol displays paintings by governors and a series of detailed door hinges. The bathrooms are on the first floor, while the Senate and House of Representatives chambers are located on the second floor. 

The facility also features a circular room or rotunda, enclosed in a “double-dome” structure fabricated in Belgium. The exterior features iron particles, limestone, and red granite from Granite Mountain. The interior features a terrazzo floor and marble sculptures. 

The front has elaborate ground landscaping, shrubbery, and evergreen trees. There is also an iron fence, elm trees, and limestone curbs on the front grounds of the capitol. The grounds of the facility are set for different civic activities.
