A Brief History
In 1979, Northwest Recreation Center was officially opened. The center was named after the town area in which it is situated. Click the Following Post
In 2006, the voters of Austin approved Proposition 3 (Parks and Parkland bond), which issued around $84.7 million for the construction, renovation, improvement, and equipment of public parks, natural areas, recreational centers, and related facilities.
Northwest Recreation Center was one of those improvements and expansions. The project has included additional 7,500 square feet to expand the center and install modern amenities. This aims to accommodate the growing needs of the Northwest Austin Community.
On July 9, 2011, Northwest Recreation Center reopened with a larger green facility situated in Northwest Austin close to Mopac (Loop 1) and Northland Drive.

- Water – hot and cold water is available in the kitchen
- Electricity – household-style electrical outlets are available in the facility, and appropriate gauge cords must be used based on the item, appliance, or device manufacturer’s guidelines
